I am building a website and am concerned about security issues to prevent hack attacks and protect my database etc.

What are the various attacks that can be made against a website or it’s database (DOS/ defacement/ hijacking/ data theft ETC.) and what are the relevant steps to prevent that?

Is there a good book/ website/ forum or other resource you recommend?

I’m getting a new laptop but to avoid identity theft i have removed the harddrive from my old laptop and i am currently soaking it in water and bleach, then i am attacking it with a hammer. Oh, and before this I shook the crap out of it. My question to all you computer guys and gals out there, if some one were to take the rest of my laptop is there any way WHATSOEVER they could still find data stored on it anywhere, and if so how could i fix this?
I’m not very tech savvy with changing laptops into anything else, plus i have been having frustrating problems with spyware and all that junk so it was part stress reliever lol and i’ve had two other friends who had their identity stolen and debit/credit cards used so i didnt want to take any chances ya know.
